Who was lucky not to be dead

At the girls, he winks
Through his hair - a dashing, bright red.

When at last he could no longer wait
Having fallen hard for his teammate
He stumbled and wooed
As he pursued
The sweet girl he wanted to date
But alas, it was not meant to be
Though attached, he started to see
That she wasn't as eager
And soon he felt meager
And he broke down with anger not pleas
Still with that ugly business behind
He was left open with options to find
Someone to attach to
Whose heart he could latch to
And whose fingers, with his, he'd entwine
His friends were surprised by the selection
For a Slytherin now held his affection
But she was a catch
And they were a match
And more than lust, shared a connection
But a more shocking secret was hidden
By the Dark Lord, he had been bidden
He joined sides with Him
And things soon turned grim
For his secret task was surely forbidden
The task given could not be forestalled
And for guidance, on a Slytherin, he called
They discussed and debated
How the girl should be fated
But in the end, it came down to gall
Once Fred had made his decision
He carried the plan through with precision
With words barely muttered
The death curse was uttered
And a blinding light blurred all their vision
At present he's snuggling his new boy
A pastime that brings them both much joy
But he worries and frets
There's no chance to forget
The past he longs still to destroy
